Institute for Digital Economics

Our institute was founded in the fall of 2020 as a part of the department of Management Sciences and Technology at the Hamburg University of Technology.

In our research we focus on decision making, strategic interaction and the impacts of digitization on markets and organizations. We use econometric methods as well as lab, online and field experiments to study human behavior. In our empirical research we build on decision theory and game theory, but also aim to develop new behavioral economic theories.

In our teaching we offer core economics modules on the undergraduate and graduate level. They are part of the degree programs “Engineering and Management” (Bachelor WILUM)“International Management and Engineering” (Master IWI) and the “Logistics, Infrastructure and Mobility” (Master LIM). In addition, we offer varying electives in the fields of digital economics, behavioral economics and economic policy.
